Prepare for a night of soggy tissues. However many times I see heartbreaking stories of vulnerable and needy children I always end up an emotional mess.

But I guess that’s the point. There are countless worthwhile causes that deserve our generosity and attention – and if a little tug on our heartstrings gets the money rolling in, well that’s fine by me.

And on a day when the monsters who murdered the beautiful child Becky Watts, get 33 and 17 years banged up in jail, let’s all give our children an extra special hug xx
